Large retention pond between Regency Oaks and Archer Woods Apartments

The retention pond between Regency Oaks and Archer Woods Apartments is a large body of semi-permanent water that attracts water birds and provides water for breeding amphibians and thirsty wildlife. It is protected from development and, as the pictures below illustrate, already provides significantly more habitat for wildlife than when first excavated. The proposed 24th Avenue extension will place four lanes of traffic between this three acres of wildlife habitat and the wildlife habitat in NATL. [See essay on effects of fragmentation.]
