On the left of the trail is Old-field Plot A, a 10-year-rotation plot started in 2002.

On the right of the trail is Old-field Plot C, a 40-year-rotation plot started in 2000.

All trees except longleaf pines (e.g., the one in the foreground) were cleared from the plots before their start.
